Parents Ending Prohibition
. . . because there are better ways to protect kids !
In the 1930's, America's mothers called alcohol prohibition "wrong in principle" and "equally disastrous in consequences".

They illustrated the unintended consequences -- "hypocrisy, corruption,
tragic loss of life, appalling increase of crime, the impairment of
constitutional guarantees of individual rights, the weakening of the sense of solidarity between the citizen and the government, and the shocking effect it has had upon the youth of the nation."
Have we forgotten the wisdom of our grandmothers?
The prohibition of marijuana has created its own hypocrisy, corruption, an even greater loss of  life, the removal of constitutional guarantees, animosity between citizens and government, and widespread gang violence.

Marijuana's unregulated black market provides sustainable incomes for dangerous criminals, and exposes our citizens to violence and other unacceptable risks.

Parents must once again unite to protect our children from this devastating and costly social experiment.  If we don't do it -- who will?
Regulate Marijuana.
Protect kids.

PEP in Mothering!
May - June
2004 issue
This website is a work in progress by a busy mom of five energetic young kids.  It reflects only the opinions of Parents Ending Prohibition's creators.  All facts will be reviewed by legal and medical experts in the future, and corrections will be posted if needed.

Please excuse our clutter and any disorganization as our site is being revised.  PEP has been undergoing a behind-the-scenes makeover, which will appear on these pages, just as quickly as we're able to bring it to life.  This is a labor of love and a work of art, and as such, must proceed at its own pace.  We appreciate your patience and understanding!

PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY
There are safer ways to consume marijuana, than by smoking it.
Therapeutic cannabis can be prepared in a variety of ways.  Some of the most common uses are:

  1.  Marijuana flowers and leaves can be prepared in food, such as we use other herbs in baked goods, sauces, and various culinary delights.

  2.  Cannabis can also be used to make tincture, tea or other beverages.

  3.  Marijuana can be made into salves, tablets, capsules, and suppositories.

  4.  An effective method for some patients trying to alleviate nausea, without burning the plant material, is a device called a vaporizer.  This medical delivery system vaporizes the essential oils, providing the therapeutic benefits in an inhalable form.

The U.S. government
calls medical marijuana a "cruel hoax."
cultivates and distributes marijuana, rolled into cigarettes and labeled as medicine, to seven patients around the nation.
exaggerates the risks associated with smoked marijuana, while ignoring evidence of the relative safety and efficacy of therapeutic cannabis.
reaps enormous financial profits from prohibition.
All of the above
